WAHA
WAHA is a WhatsApp HTTP API that lets AI agents and apps send and receive WhatsApp messages by linking a number with a QR code. Deploy it in one click.
Deploy WAHA on CloudStation Without Managing Servers
This template runs WAHA Core with the lightweight GOWS engine, a dashboard, and an API key and password unique to your deployment. A volume keeps your linked number across restarts.
⚠️ Before you start: Open /dashboard and sign in with WAHA_DASHBOARD_USERNAME and WAHA_DASHBOARD_PASSWORD from the service's environment variables, then scan the QR code. WAHA is not an official WhatsApp product, so use a number you can afford to lose.
What is WAHA?
WAHA stands for WhatsApp HTTP API. It connects to WhatsApp the way WhatsApp Web does, then exposes sending, receiving and session control as simple API calls. The Core edition is licensed under Apache-2.0.
How do I connect an AI agent to WAHA?
Link your number in the dashboard, then call the API with the header X-Api-Key set to your WAHA_API_KEY. Your agent sends messages through the API and receives new ones through webhooks.
Best For and Not Best For
Best for: AI agents, support bots and notifications on WhatsApp, for one number.
Not best for: businesses that need official Meta approval or guaranteed account safety. Those should use the official WhatsApp Business Platform.

WAHA vs Alternatives
WAHA vs Evolution API: Both connect WhatsApp through a linked number, and CloudStation offers both. Try WAHA when you want the lightweight engine and its dashboard.
WAHA vs Official WhatsApp Business Platform: Choose WAHA for a quick start with a regular number. Choose the official platform for approved templates and lower account risk.
Why Deploy WAHA on CloudStation?
Protected by default: The API key and dashboard password are generated for each deployment.
Sessions persist: A volume keeps your linked number across restarts and redeploys.
HTTPS handled for you: CloudStation provides SSL on your web address.
Common WAHA Use Cases
WhatsApp AI agent: Let an agent answer customers on your own number.
Support bot: Answer common questions, then hand off to a person.
Notifications: Send order and appointment updates from your app.
FAQ
Is WAHA free?
WAHA Core is free and open source. You pay only for the CloudStation resources it runs on. The separate paid WAHA Plus adds more features.
How many WhatsApp numbers can I connect?
WAHA Core supports one session. More sessions need WAHA Plus.
Do I need Meta approval?
No. You link a number by QR code, but WAHA is unofficial, so WhatsApp changes can break it and accounts can be restricted.
Is WAHA an alternative to Evolution API?
Yes. Both provide a WhatsApp API through a linked number.
Will I have to scan the QR code after a restart?
Your session is kept on a volume, so a normal restart should not need a new scan.
